Waze

Waze is the world's largest driver-based traffic and social navigation application that shares real-time road information and contributes to the best rides on the road. By simply driving around with open users Waze contributes passive traffic and other road data. Users can take a more active role by sharing road reports of accidents, police traps or any other hazards along the way, helping provide to other users in the area. A 'warning' about what is about to happen. It works on smartphones and tablets that support GPS. It provides turn-by-turn navigation information and user-submitted travel times and route details, while downloading location-dependent information via the mobile network.

Waze collects map data, travel times and traffic information from users and transmits it to the Waze server, free of charge for Waze. Waze users can send anonymous information, including user speed and location, back to its database to improve the entire service.

Based on the information gathered, Waze can then provide real-time traffic updates and routing. Waze can be used anywhere in the world but it needs enough early users to create a map and constantly update the data to make it useful.

Waze provides turn-by-turn voice navigation, real-time traffic, and other location-specific alerts. Waze encourages users to report traffic or road hazards by providing points.

Feature of Waze

Waze has the ability to guide community-based users to contribute information. Waze users can report countless traffic related incidents from accidents to police traps. This data is used by Waze to help other users by alerting them to the previous situation or rerouting users to avoid this area altogether.

In addition to using community information to warn traffic, Waze also allows registered users to manually modify map data through the Waze Map Editor. Map editors are allowed to change the map based on where they drove while using Waze and their rankings based on the number of map edits the user has made.
